01 How do we get data from the brand?
We collect all product information from a supplier and process them via our very own EDI solution and its extension, OrderWriter Connect. This makes sure that details like colors, product groups, and sizes are correctly matched with the retailer’s data. Product images are also automatically linked, so everything is organized and ready to use.
No matter which method is used — digital catalog or digital order — the retailer receives EAN codes in OrderWriter and later in their POS system. These codes are powerful: they can be used for Google Shopping, to access external data sources like Fashion Cloud, and to send back sales and inventory data to the supplier.

02 What does “digital catalog” mean?
This is one of the two ways a brand shares product data. With a digital catalog, a supplier shares product attributes and images directly with a retailer. This usually happens during a showroom visit, but it can also be shared in advance. Retailers can browse, select items, and add quantities themselves — making ordering easy and flexible.
03 What does “digital order” mean?
This is one of the two ways a brand shares product data - but this time retailers also receives orders: In this setup, the supplier sends an order via OrderWriter Connect, our EDI extension, to OrderWriter where it’s matched to the correct articles and converted into an order. From there, the retailer can enrich the order, split it across stores, review it, and finally send it to their ERP system.
04 What are DESADVS/digital packing slips?
A DESADV or digital packing slip is a file send from the brand to the retailer, containing information about the articles that they will receive. It contains the order number, EAN’s, quantities and delivery dates. Receiving the DESADV’s in combination with the OrderWriter, will save you a lot of manual actions and make the process more automated.
